I just want to take a quick moment and thank everybody for the great times we have had with the Degrees, dinners, conversations, desserts….desserts….and of course, those great Chocolate Mousse Desserts!! Yum!
Which reminds me of one of the greatest lessons I have learned in Lodge so far, as to being a Mason, That is BALANCE. I remember when WB Seitz showed me the first book of three on Masonry. Great times sitting there talking, learning, comparing ideas. That is when I read about the working tools of an Entered Apprentice, the Twenty Four inch Gauge is what really caught my attention.
It was right then that I learned and decided to apply, Masonry teachings to my real life. 24 hours in a day, divided into three equal parts, eight hours for a distressed worthy Brother, eight hours for refreshment and sleep, and eight hours for our usual avocations.
Seems easy… but I wasn’t even close. In fact I really felt like I had stumbled onto the one thing that would bring balance back into my life. Hmm, a simple tool, that Twenty Four inch Gauge. Some of us work 12-14 hours a day. Some of us play 8-10 hours. Some of us get about 2-6 hours of sleep. I may not be able to get the best balance in my life, but this simple little tool has helped me get so much more balance.
We all are working, playing, and helping in our lives and we can be a lot happier if we could get that BALANCE.
Thanks for the great times and balance that Masonry can bring us.
